Frequently Asked Questions

What is Pilates Strong Back & Core?

Pilates Strong Back & Core focuses specifically on your spine and your deep core muscles. Alternating between intensive stabilisation and soothing mobilisation, you strengthen your powerhouse, improve your posture and release tension in your neck and shoulders. A class lasts 60 minutes.

What is the powerhouse?

In Pilates, the powerhouse means your centre: the deep abdominal and back muscles, the pelvic floor and the muscles around the pelvis. They stabilise your spine and are the starting point of every Pilates movement. A strong powerhouse supports an upright posture and takes the strain off your back in everyday life.

Who is the class particularly suitable for?

For anyone who sits a lot, wants to strengthen their back or prevent posture problems – for example after long days at the desk or as a balance to other sports. The class is suitable for all levels: every exercise comes with suitable variations, and you set your own pace and intensity.

Does Pilates Strong Back & Core help with back pain?

Strong, well-coordinated core muscles stabilise the spine and can help release tension and prevent back problems – which is exactly what this class aims for. If you already have complaints, please let your trainer know before class so she can adapt the exercises. If you have acute pain or a medical diagnosis, please consult your doctor beforehand.

What's the difference between Strong Back & Core and Core Power?

Both classes strengthen your core, but with different emphases. Strong Back & Core focuses especially on the spine and the deep core muscles, combines intensive stabilisation with soothing mobilisation and releases tension in the neck and shoulders – ideal if you sit a lot. Pilates Core Power trains your abs, obliques and lower back in a targeted, powerful way. For your lower body, Pilates Legs & Glutes is a great complement; for a well-rounded full-body workout, try Pilates Full Body Flow.

What should I bring to Pilates Strong Back & Core?

Please bring a towel – it's mandatory for hygiene reasons. If you forget yours, you can rent one at the studio for €2. Wear comfortable clothing that lets you move freely, and bring something to drink (no glass bottles). We train in non-slip socks (Pilates or grip socks). We provide mats and all other equipment at the studio.

Can I do the class during pregnancy or after giving birth?

During pregnancy, we recommend our Prenatal Pilates class, which is fully tailored to the needs of this time. After birth, it's best to start with Postnatal Pilates, which we offer as a fixed course block, or with Pilates Mum & Baby before returning to more intensive classes. Feel free to get in touch, we're happy to advise you.
